Caring for Polymer Clay Jewelry
So you bought your first pair of polymer clay earrings, now what? How do you take care of them and keep them clean for long-lasting wear and durability.
Every purchase at Studio 2.11 comes with a care card and in circumstances where purchases have brass and/or gold, a polishing cloth comes with each item to assist with the care needed.
Here are some basic care instructions that might assist you with any hesitations you may have:
- Store all polymer clay jewelry in cool and dry areas
- Use a damn cloth to wipe off any debris
- For stubborn make-up transfers, use a bit of acetone (nail polish remover) on a cotton ball or Q-tip and lightly rub over any areas.
To maintain luster and shine on brass pieces, the following homemade concoction can be made that's chemical free:
- 1/2 cup of vinegar, a teaspoon of salt, and a sprinkling of flour until it forms a paste. Spread the mixture on the brass and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Rinse with cool water and dry immediately.
If you're in a rush, Brasso can be purchased from most hardware stores and will give the same outcome without the mixing and use of home products.
Taking a little time to clean and store your will give you many years to enjoy your handmade jewelry.
